Sutter Health Approves Major Renovation Plans for Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital     03-21-2008

$18.6 million project to provide operating room, facility and patient room upgrades

Auburn, Calif. - Sutter Health Board of Trustees approved an $18.6 million renovation plan for Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, which will significantly improve treatment and patient care facilities of the hospital. Renovations are scheduled to begin in May 2008 and estimated to be completed by mid-2011.

"Sutter Health's renovation approval is a reflection of the long-term commitment that Sutter has to ensuring that excellent health care provided in an environment conducive to healing is available locally," said Mitch Hanna, Sutter Auburn's Chief Administrative Officer. "We are extremely gratified and pleased with the Board's approval of the project. Sutter Auburn Faith is an integral part of the Auburn community and these much-needed upgrades will assist us in providing the best care and treatment possible, while maintaining our small-town friendliness and charm," he said.

The renovation will include upgrades to 61 patient rooms, with most of the semi-private rooms being converted to private rooms for greater patient comfort and privacy. Rooms will be remodeled to include new closets, shutters, media centers, curtains, new furnishings and wall coverings. The most significant component of the project includes the expansion and modernization of the hospital's four operating rooms, including new operating room equipment, lighting and ventilation systems. The hospital-wide renovation will also replace ceiling tiles, floors, lighting, and wall coverings in the common areas and upgrade mechanical systems and replace windows, as well as the installation of patient safety equipment and improvements. The hospital will continue to offer high quality care to the community, so the renovation will occur in phases.

"Sutter Auburn Faith has provided quality care to local residents for many years and these necessary renovations will ensure that our medical facility stays current with the growing health care needs of the surrounding communities," said Ed Bonner, a volunteer trustee with the Sutter Health Sacramento Sierra Region Board of Trustees that provides governance of Sutter Health services in Placer, Sacramento and Yolo counties.

Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital was established in 1966 when a group of 10 local physicians took a "leap of faith" and opened Auburn Faith Hospital to serve the community with state-of-the-art medical care. The hospital affiliated with Sutter Health in 1989. The 97-bed facility offers a full range of services, including inpatient, outpatient, education and support services. Master site plans for Sutter Auburn Faith are the latest in a series of other projects intended to continue to provide the Auburn community with high quality, comprehensive health services.
