Target audience: Clinicians who care for neuro or spine patients or who have a special interest in neuro / spine topics including: Primary Care, Internal Medicine, Pediatricians, Neurologist, Spine and Pain Specialists, and other health care providers that work in the neuro and/or spine fields or with neuro/spine patients
COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Review the previous and current understanding of Alzheimer’s Disease
- Discuss current treatment strategies and research directions for Alzheimer’s Disease
- Learn about new evidence based treatments for ALS
- Learn about treatments that enhance quality of life in ALS
- Discuss the new treatments available for patients with epilepsy
- Identify some of the mechanisms of action of the newer anticonvulsants
- Understand and appreciate the importance of medical management and quality of life for autism patients
- Compare and contrast previous and recent understanding of autism
- Review the current standard of care in spinal surgery
- Understand the trends underway that will influence changes in spinal surgery over the next decade
- Learn the simplified criteria for stroke thrombolytic treatment
- Understand the utility of ct perfusion in acute stroke management
- Evaluate the clinical challenge of anti platelet drug resistance
- Appreciate blood pressure reduction for stroke prevention
